On the 19th of December, an alleged Tunisian man pledging loyalty to ISIS drove a truck into a crowd of people in Berlin who were gathered at a Christmas market. Sixty-one men, women, and children were either killed or wounded in this blatant, terrorist attack that closely mirrors the Bastille Day attack earlier this year. Both of these heinous assaults were claimed to be orchestrated by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) or better known as ISIS.
President-elect, Donald Trump, has come forward following the news of this most recent terrorist attack supporting his plan for a Muslim immigration ban to the United States. “Innocent civilians were murdered in the streets as they prepared to celebrate the Christmas holiday,” Trump said in an initial statement following the Berlin attack. “ISIS and other Islamist terrorists continually slaughter Christians in their communities and places of worship as part of their global jihad.”
Now is by far the best time to continue to make such a push to ensure the borders of this great nation remain safe. With his push for a Muslim Ban, he is making the first steps toward securing our country by learning from the mistakes of Europe. As President Trump said himself, this recent attack has proven him right once again and signals a need for more stringent immigration policy when it comes to Muslims.
