According to state run news agencies in Russia, there was a terrorist attack on a St. Petersburg’s metro train, killing at least ten people and injuring many more. Although investigating all possibilities, authorities are saying it was probably a terrorist attack.
The train was traveling between metro stations when a blast ripped through the car. As of right now no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. At a second station, a bomb was located in a fire extinguisher and diffused before it could go off, saving many lives. The entire metro system in St. Petersburg is currently shut down.
The train was traveling through a tunnel when the blast occurred at about 2:30 pm on Monday. The conductor survived the blast and kept going to the next metro station where injured passengers could receive help.
As of right now, authorities do not know what was used to cause the explosion but an investigation is underway. This is the first terrorist attack in Russia this year.
